About

Biography 

Adele Joel is one of the UK’s leading tap dancers, celebrated for her dynamic performance style, mastery of improvisation, and dedication to the art form.

She began her training at several of the UK’s top dance schools before furthering her studies in the USA, where she immersed herself in the vibrant American tap scene. Adele is a founding member of Old Kent Road, a renowned London-based tap company, and has performed with Andrew Nemr’s Cat’s Paying Dues in New York City, including their Off-Broadway 10th Anniversary show.

Internationally recognized, Adele has performed in the premiere of What Is This Thing Called Love in New Hampshire, USA, choreographed by Derick K. Grant and Dormeshia and directed by Aaron Tolson. She has also represented England at the Tap Dance World Championships in Riesa, Germany.

A regular performer at the London Tap Jam and with The Michele Drees Tap Project, Adele has appeared at major venues and festivals including Ronnie Scott’s, 606 Club, the Vortex, London Jazz Festival, Glastonbury Music Festival, and Love Supreme Jazz Festival. She is also a frequent performer with The Black Cat Cabaret, gracing stages at The Ned Hotel, Soho House, Manzi’s, and Zédel.

Adele’s choreography and performances have featured in numerous corporate events and special appearances, often leading her own team of dancers. She has become a special guest with the world-famous Jive Aces, performing in multiple West End venues.

With Old Kent Road, Adele has toured across the UK, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Sadler’s Wells, The Bunker Theatre, and completed two international tours in China.

Adele was invited to join the prestigious School at Jacob’s Pillow Tap Dance Program in 2019 and has since taught and performed at international tap festivals across Stockholm, Mallorca, Poland, and Germany.

Her television and film credits include appearances on BBC One during the Women’s FA Cup Semi-Finals and work with Lionsgate Productions for the DVD release of La La Land.

As a qualified ISTD teacher, Adele teaches at leading colleges and schools across the UK and is a choreographer for Tap Attack, performing arts colleges, and international productions. Most recently, she adjudicated the ISTD Tap Awards at Bird College.

A passionate ambassador for the art of tap, Adele continues to inspire audiences and students around the world with her artistry and innovation.

We’ll be diving deep into the infectious rhythm of jazz and tap with a night that celebrates the powerful connection between music and movement.

 

Act 1 features specially choreographed pieces performed by an all-star tap dance cast – Ryan Campbell Birch, Natasha Kirk, Alice Vanstone, and Adele Joel – dancing to jazz classics like Well You Needn’t, Afro Blue, Straight, No Chaser, Yardbird Suite and more.

In Act 2, we open the floor for an electrifying Tap Jam – dancers, bring your shoes! Whether you’re a seasoned tap dancer or just want to soak in the energy, this is a night not to miss.

 

Expect vibrant music, original choreography, exciting improvisation, and a joyful celebration of rhythm.
